Robert Parker notes its exceptional balance and aristocratic structure, while Galloni emphasises its remarkable freshness and aging potential.
Pairing: This noble Napa wine pairs masterfully with A5 Japanese Wagyu, pan-seared Sashi Beef, or Westholme Wagyu tenderloin. The wine's structure complements dishes featuring wild Ceps or Morels. For cheese, serve with aged Fort Saint Antoine Comté or Truffle Pecorino. Black truffle creates an outstanding winter accompaniment.
Producer: Opus One, founded in 1979 as a collaboration between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, represents the marriage of Napa Valley terroir with Bordeaux tradition. The estate's 169 acres of vineyards in Oakville benefit from the region's exceptional climate and soils. Their meticulous approach includes hand-harvesting at night, grape-by-grape sorting, and aging in new French oak. Each vintage reflects both the character of Napa Valley and the refinement of Bordeaux winemaking philosophy.
