Pairing: The wine's elegance and structure pair beautifully with Limousin Veal accompanied by wild Girolles mushrooms. For poultry, choose Poulet Landes with Autumn Truffle. Producer: Le Petit Haut Lafitte represents the second wine of the prestigious Château Smith Haut Lafitte, owned by Florence and Daniel Cathiard since 1990. The former Olympic skiers have transformed this ancient estate into one of Bordeaux's most innovative producers. Their commitment to sustainability includes using horse-drawn ploughs and maintaining their own cooperage. The second wine benefits from the same meticulous attention to detail as the grand vin, with plots specifically dedicated to its production.
Vintage: 2015 stands as an exceptional year in Bordeaux, particularly for Pessac-Léognan. A warm, dry summer followed by perfect conditions during harvest allowed for optimal ripening. The vintage produced wines of remarkable concentration and freshness, with the gravelly soils of Pessac-Léognan providing excellent drainage during brief September rains. This vintage shows particular finesse and aging potential.
