Tasting: Crystalline pale gold with green reflections. Intense aromatics of white peach, citrus blossom, and sea spray. The palate delivers pristine minerality with notes of fresh apricot, lime zest, and salted almonds, balanced by razor-sharp acidity and a long, saline finish.
Pairing: Perfect with Ōra King Salmon, either raw as sashimi or lightly grilled. Exceptional with Carabineros and Gambero Rosso, particularly when simply prepared with olive oil and sea salt. For cheese, pair with young Comté from Fort Saint Antoine or a perfectly ripe Camembert de Normandie. The wine's minerality beautifully complements wild Girolles and Chanterelles sautéed in butter.
Producer: Domaine Saint Marie des Crozes, led by Jean-Roger Durand, has been pioneering Albariño cultivation in Languedoc since 2015. Breaking from regional traditions, Durand saw the potential for this Galician variety in his limestone-rich soils near Corbières. The estate's innovative approach combines biodynamic practices with minimal intervention winemaking.
Vintage: 2023 saw optimal conditions in Languedoc, with a cool spring followed by a warm, dry summer. September brought light rainfall at crucial moments, allowing perfect phenolic ripeness while maintaining the variety's characteristic freshness and acidity.
