Tasting: An exceptional single-vineyard Pinot Grigio that transcends the variety's simple reputation. The nose displays complex layers of ripe pear, white peach, and alpine herbs, with subtle mineral notes. The palate is remarkably textured, offering concentrated flavours of yellow apple, citrus zest, and crushed stones, supported by precise acidity. Nuances of ginger and white flowers emerge on the long finish, while a distinctive saline minerality reflects the unique terroir of the Porer vineyard.
Pairing: This sophisticated Pinot Grigio pairs beautifully with Akimi Bluefin Tuna, its texture complementing the fish's lean character. Outstanding with Sturia Oscietra Caviar, where the wine's mineral precision enhances the caviar's subtle complexity. Its fresh citrus notes and high acidity pairs well with white fish such as Alaskan Black Cod and Chilean Sea Bass
Producer: The Lageder family has been crafting wines in Alto Adige for six generations, with Alois Lageder leading the estate's conversion to biodynamic practices in 2004. The Porer vineyard, situated at 400 metres above sea level, benefits from well-draining volcanic porphyry soils and significant diurnal temperature variations. The family's commitment to sustainable viticulture, combined with minimal intervention winemaking, allows this site to express its unique character through the lens of Pinot Grigio.
Vintage: 2021 was an exceptional vintage in Alto Adige, marked by a cool spring and moderate summer temperatures. Perfect harvest conditions and good diurnal temperature ranges produced wines with outstanding freshness and concentration, particularly beneficial for aromatic white varieties.
