PERSIAN BLUE SALT
Persian blue salt is a rare and precious salt harvested by hand in Iran. Its intense blue colour comes from its richness in sylvite - a potassium ore that's exclusively found in halite salts. Persian blue salt is a fossil or gem salt whose crystals formed 100 million years ago in the Precambrian seas. These Sapphire blue salt crystals formed following the evaporation of ancient lakes and inland seas. Unlike sea salt extracted from salt pans, Persian blue salt is considered one of the best in the world and brings an original touch to your dishes.
We recommend using Persian blue salt at the end of cooking to preserve its flavours and original colour. It can be used in crystals or powder form to enhance salads, sauces and all other everyday dishes. Persian blue salt crystals can be put into a mill or crushed using a mortar. For a unique taste experience, try it with your Wagyu steaks!
Persian blue salt is extracted from the Ergourz mountain range in the Semnan province of northern Iran. Finding veins of blue salt is rarer as it usually occurs in pink halite salts. The blue colour of this Iranian salt comes from the potassium ore called sylvite. At first sight, Persian blue salt coexisted with the species that disappeared during the Cretaceous mass extinction 100 million years ago.
